PILIKULA GOLF CLUB

Pilikula Golf Club

The Pilikula golf course is the only one golf course in mangalore located 12 kms from the city of mangalore. The Pilikula golf course is a compact 9 hole, 3134 yard, Par 36 parkland style layout . The hub for golf here (as its the only course in & around Mangalore), the layout has 2 sets of tees – the Men’s & the Ladies. The Par 3′s here are both around 200 yards long & tough while the Par 5′s are both sub 500 yards & relatively easier making this course a interesting mix of easy & the not so easy holes. The toughest hole is a challenging 444 yard, Par 4 design.

The club is owned by the Pilikula Nisargadhama trust. The Pilikula Nisargadhama is an eco-educational and tourism park promoted by the District Administration. Spread across 370 acres of lush greenery the Pilikula Nisargadhama has a biological park, a golf course, an amusement park, a lake, an arboretum, a science centre, a heritage village and an artisan village.

The golf course is managed by a body of 12 governing members. Six (6) members are government representatives & the other six (6) members are elected from among the members of the club. The Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada is a keen golfer, and is the current President of the golf club & presides over the managing committee.

In Tulu, ‘Pili’ means tiger and ‘Kula’ means pond. According to a legend, free roaming tigers frequented a watering hole in the vicinity and hence the name Pilikula. Perched atop a hillock overlooking the quiet flowing Gurupura River, coconut groves and acacia plantations, the Pilikula Nisargadhama Resort is an oasis of calm. There is a full-fledged resort adjoining the golf course. Pilikula is a perfect getaway for those who seek to relax and rejuvenate in nature’s company.
